Signs have been placed in the neighborhood to announce the AVHA Community Yard Sale this Saturday, Sept 16 from 8 AM to 1 PM. Now is a great time to move out some unwanted items and find some new bargains!
We now have an efficient heat pump and air conditioner unit in the clubhouse. It’s quiet and will be a tremendous benefit for all of the social events, meetings, and private parties.
We recently learned that the city had a grant for pet waste stations. We applied and were given one which is now installed on the path behind Auburn and Bates. We hope to apply for additional stations when they become available. Here is the grant information.
Due to the weather, this event is moved to Sat, Oct. 15. Join us for community cleanup in the morning. We’ll spruce up the common areas, throw out broken rails, debris, and power wash, etc.
Then bring your famous chili to the hot dog roast at noon.at the clubhouse. We’ll have a prize for the winner!
LJ’s Lawns, Lights, and Jobs has entered into contract with AVHA to do more extensive grounds work above and beyond the normal maintenance mowing and care. The neighborhood has been divided into four zones and you can view this map to see when the company will be near your home. The yellow zone will be Oct, the red zone is Nov, the blue Dec, and the purple Jan. The clubhouse overgrowth and pool beds are in Feb.
They will be focusing on doing more substantial work along the paths and common areas and some of the culverts, depending on permits and city projects. Everything you can do to clean up your bushes and trees along the paths and culverts will mean less cost to all of us. If you have concerns, please take them to the manager at email@example.com.
Today’s Pig Pickin’ was a success and everyone had a great time. Live music was provided by a neighborhood family, Ava & Jaron, plus our own BBQ grill master smoked the pig. Several other neighbors brought food and helped out. Soon there was nothing left but bones. Many people enjoyed the pool at the same time.
AVHA has adopted Amherst Lane and Auburn Dr out to Military for litter pickup along the sidewalks. The Parks & Recreation Dept is providing supplies and will post a sign stating that the area is adopted.
As of this writing, other areas nearby are available for adoption by individuals or groups: Level Green park, College Park Blvd, and Providence (from CVS to Treadquarters).
Over the summer a kids litter pickup club was formed by a resourceful young neighbor, and this past weekend, we all combined efforts to help clean up the streets. We picked up 55 pounds of trash!
We’d love to have more neighbors participate. Check the calendar here and the announcements on Nextdoor for the next planned pickup.

Volunteers tore out the wooden fence and the old flower bed in front. New landscaping timbers were put in to replace the rotten old ones and new flowers were planted there and also along the front of the clubhouse and in the flower boxes at the pool entrance.
Additionally, the rusty bike rack has been painted and looks very good.
Thanks to the neighbors who helped make it happen!
